An experienced instructor leads cardio-kickboxing classes by demonstrating technique combinations of punches, kicks, and knee strikes to fast-paced music. Cardio kickboxing combinations are a mix of martial arts movements including:
Upper body Strikes such as Jabs, Cross punches, Hook punches, uppercuts and Lower body strikes like, Roundhouse kicks, knee strikes, switch kicks and combinations of both upper and lower body strikes.
Classes also include a warm-up and cool down as well as both dynamic and static stretching. Often, each class incorporates core exercises like crunches and leg raises. Typical cardio kickboxing classes run from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the gym or studio.
Despite the name, cardio-kickboxing is a non-contact workout. All punches and kicks are thrown into the air or onto pads.
